Chris Moritz General Counsel


Christopher Moritz is the General Counsel of Decorus Imperium. He is a seasoned M&A executive and lawyer, experienced in international business development and corporate finance. Chris began his career in private equity as a Senior Associate at Revolution Capital Group in Los Angeles, where he originated dozens of transactions with an aggregate deal value of more than $1 billion.

Chris has consulted with leading public and private investment funds and assisted clients with complex corporate transactions and special situations, providing outside counsel, commercial due diligence, and valuation opinions.

Chris was a Vice President in the cross-border M&A group at Essence Securities, one of China’s leading investment banks, where he was based in Shanghai. Chris was the most senior Western executive at the bank and executed transactions on behalf of multinational corporations and Chinese public companies in Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

Additionally, Chris served as a White House-appointed Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role, Chris worked on trade-related policy initiatives including the U.S. China Phase I Trade Agreement, and he was attached to the Commerce Department CFIUS task force. Chris originated several Presidential executive orders and inter-agency projects related to U.S. China investment and security.

Chris has extensive experience in private equity business development and strategy, and in sourcing proprietary deal flow. Additional client work has focused on geopolitical risk consulting, with specific engagements pertaining to Huawei subsidiaries, cyber and infrastructure security, and technology I.P. theft.

Chris holds a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law, a Master of Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, and a B.A. from UCLA. Additionally, Chris is a licensed attorney and member of the New York State Bar.
