Chris Moritz General Counsel

Christopher Moritz serves as General Counsel of Decorus Imperium, where he leads the firm’s legal strategy, oversees complex transactions, and advises on matters at the intersection of corporate finance, international business, and geopolitical risk. With a career spanning private equity, investment banking, and public service, Chris brings a uniquely global and strategic perspective to the firm’s legal and advisory functions.
Chris began his career in private equity as a Senior Associate at Revolution Capital Group in Los Angeles, where he originated and executed dozens of transactions with an aggregate value exceeding $1 billion. He went on to advise leading public and private investment funds, providing outside counsel on complex corporate transactions, commercial due diligence, valuation, and special situations.
He later served as a Vice President in the cross-border M&A group at Essence Securities in Shanghai, where he was the most senior Western executive at the firm. In this role, Chris led and executed transactions on behalf of multinational corporations and Chinese public companies across Asia, North America, Europe, and the Middle East, developing deep expertise in international dealmaking and cross-border regulatory environments.
Chris also served as a White House-appointed Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce. There, he worked on critical trade and national security initiatives, including the U.S.-China Phase I Trade Agreement, and was a member of the Department’s CFIUS task force. He contributed to the development of Presidential executive orders and interagency initiatives focused on investment security and bilateral economic policy.
In addition to his transactional work, Chris has advised clients on geopolitical risk, including engagements related to cyber and infrastructure security, technology intellectual property, and sensitive multinational operations.
